Andrew Weissman has a diverse background in real estate development, construction and management spanning more than 35 years. In 2009, he founded Weissman Construction Services to provide consulting services to a select group of clients that include national equity investors, tax-credit syndicators, holding companies, as well as large and small, mission-oriented nonprofit developers.
Prior to founding Weissman Construction Services, Mr. Weissman served as Vice President of Construction Services for AIG/SunAmerica Affordable Housing Partners, the largest affordable housing investor in the country at that time. His responsibilities included front-end due-diligence, construction management, and oversight of over $1.2 billion in apartment construction in six western states. Mr. Weissman also managed the takeover and completion of several troubled assets including a 322-unit transit-oriented development in Northern California and a portfolio of apartment communities in Southern California.
Prior to working with AIG/SunAmerica, Andrew served as Vice President of Construction and Design for west coast offices of McCormack Baron Salazar. There he oversaw construction of a variety of projects including mixed-use, transit-oriented, Hope VI, and special needs projects throughout the region.
In 2019, Mr. Weissman served as the Construction Manager for 88th & Vermont. The project was recognized as the Transformational Project of the Year by the Southern California Association of Non Profit Housing. Developed in a joint venture between Community Build and Women Organizing Resources Knowledge and Services (WORKS), the project provides housing for transitional-aged youth, veterans and low income families. The project also includes a 9000 square feet Youth and Community Services Facility — 88th & Vermont was the first project in Los Angeles completed using Measure HHH funds and the first affordable housing project in Los Angeles to use incentives provided through the Transit Oriented Communities (TOC) ordinance.
Mr. Weissman holds a B1 General Contractor’s license, a California Real Estate Broker’s License, and has been certified by the International Code Council to perform both residential and commercial building inspections. He received a Bachelor of Science majoring in Finance and Real Estate from California State University, Northridge, and completed the Ross Program in Real Estate Development at the University of Southern California.
Mr. Weissman served on the Board of Managers of the West Valley YMCA in 2011 and 2012 and served as the Chairman of the Sustainability Committees for the West Valley, Mid Valley and East Valley YMCA’s until 2015.
